Bio Pyramid

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

In the ongoing energy debate, biomass energy is getting a lot of play among politicians. To understand the concept, it first helps to understand the bio pyramid.

Bio Pyramid

All of the organisms in the world follow orders of classification. Whether you choose to put them into groups of plants and animals, herbivores and carnivores, or any other of the many different types of classification systems, organisms can be put into many groups in order to understand their relationship to one another. One way to classify organisms is to put them into their order, or hierarchy, in the food chain. In this way, we can see how animals and other organisms relate to each other based on what they consume.

There are several different ways to look at the food chain, and one important and useful tool in this area is the bio pyramid. A bio pyramid is a graphical chart that shows the comparative mass of the consumers to the producers in the food chain. This can be helpful in determining how energy is transferred to the top levels of the pyramid from the bottom levels.

5 Points You Should Consider Before Having A Custom Flag Made

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

To get the best price for you.

1. Size: This makes a difference to the price. Think what your flags will be used for – if they are going to be used for promotion, give always etc. then low grade polyester will be perfect. Smaller sized flags will be cheaper than larger ones but select the size dependent on the purpose for the flags.

2. Quantity: This is always a major factor in price. The more you order the cheaper the flag – this is mainly due to labour costs. It’s just as quick to make 5 flags as it is 1. So when asking for a quote for 1 flag it is suggested to request 5 flags. You will be surprised at the savings you can make.

3. Colour: This is important for a custom flag price. Assume you have 3 colours – red, green and grey in your logo – if your are looking to have 10 custom flags made it would be better to have them screen printed rather than digitally printed. With screen printing there is a film for each colour and those films can be reused several times. However, digital printing is carried out by machine and results in the use of more colour. While it is cheaper to print 1 flag using the digital print method, it depends on the design and colours chosen. If your design is full colour then digital may only be the option you have.

We Live In A System Of Beliefs

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

The following article about beliefs is just an expression of my thoughts. It is certainly not definitive.

In my opinion, we live our life on the basis of beliefs. We, literally live in a huge belief system. So seamlessly integrated (into our world) are some beliefs that most people assume that they are natural and accepted them without questioning.

The very act of reading this article is belief-based, because the very construct that is formed in your head now is conceptual & of the thinking mind. Perhaps, what really is does not just exist as concepts, but also exists in the NOW as experience. Although one is able to describe or conceptualize a truth, the conceptualization is itself a thought.

Beliefs can be very powerful, especially when the majority of the population buys into it. Sometime a certain belief when set in motion, causes catalytic reactions, triggering the formation of yet other beliefs. Gradually, layers upon layers of beliefs mire directness and truth. So thickly laden with beliefs and far removed from the original spontaneity that life becomes unnecessarily complex and ritualized.
